Strandworks Studio began within a freelance hair and makeup practice where sculptural work was a recurring part of the creative process. While sculptural hair is often seen across editorial and performance, braided sculpture appeared far less frequently, not because of lack of interest, but because of the time, labour, and planning it requires to create on set. Braiding stood out as a material with unique possibilities: flexible, strong, and capable of being shaped into almost any form. Strandworks Studio was created to focus on that overlooked potential, developing braid sculptures in advance so they can be used easily and confidently across editorial, theatre, and film without the limitations of live sculptural work.

The studio offers a range of ready made braid sculptures available for sale or rental, alongside bespoke commissions tailored to specific projects. Each piece is designed with durability, continuity, and ease of installation in mind, holding shape under lights, movement, and extended wear.

Working closely with stylists, costume designers, and production teams, Strandworks Studio supports image-making and performance across fashion, stage, and screen. Optional on set support and care guidance are available to ensure consistency and longevity.
